The processor, also known as the c entral processing unit (CPU) also known as a processor, is the part which performs most of the computations inside a computer. It process all the commands that are received by the software running on the PC , as well as by different hardware components and also functions as a calculator.

Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU)

An arithmetic logic unit (ALU) is an electronic circuit inside the processor that handles logic and arithmetic functions by loading data from input registers.

When the control unit supplies the ALU with the necessary instructions for the tasks to be executed The ALU completes them by connecting multiple transistors, and then stores the results into an output register.

The control unit will move this data to memory.

To function correctly to function properly, the CPU depends on the system clock in order to function properly, it relies on memory, secondary storage and address and data busses.

Smaller devices such as mobile phones or calculators, handheld gaming systems, and tablets use smaller processors, also known as ARM CPUs to take advantage of their reduced size and space.
